Role Description

We are looking to expand by adding a Project Engineer to our construction team. In this role, Project Engineer will carry out regular services, execute projects from conception to total completion. Responsibilities will include interfacing with clients, procurement, read and understand project specifications.

  • Plan and manage overall construction activities and support the field team on daily execution of projects.
  • Participates in client meetings along with project manager to review project related details and verifying the project components are installed in accordance with specifications and design requirements.
  • Plan the Procurement management of materials for site, tools, equipment required for projects along while managing project team direction, co-ordination, monitoring schedules and budgets, and invoice preparation.
  • Perform business development and marketing activities to current and potential clients to generate future business.
  • Management of the sub-contractors, making quotes for the services rendered on site, finding subcontracts.
  • Using the MS project tool, and procure to enter all the cost codes, and other project related details.
  • Assess processes, manage project budget, take measurements, and interpret data, report improvement suggestions and lesson-learnt advice to management of all projects assigned.
  • Report to Project Manager, and participate in weekly progress meetings and status on the project.
  • Coordinate with the Quality control/ Quality Assurance on work sites, helping foreman and work crew with material, tools, helping to analyse the project specifications.
  • Examine/inspect field conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies, and research drawings for preparation of a Request for Information.
  • Mentor and support junior staff and coordinate with teammates to manage workloads.
  • Develop the Site-specific safety plans.
  • Perform take-offs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Degree in Civil engineering or Project management would be an asset.
  • Minimum 7-8 years’ experience in the Civil construction industry is required.
  • Registration in good standing as a P.Eng., or eligible to be registered.
  • Managing lumpsum projects.
  • Experience working with public works would be an asset (Municipality, ministry of transportation, provincial and federal agencies).
  • Experience in estimating and B2W software would be an asset.
  • Proficiency in Construction management, inspection, engineering, and survey coordination.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Great desire and drive to learn quickly and apply knowledge.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).
  • Should have a valid BC Driver’s License.
  • Should be currently living in the Great Vancouver Area.

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to commit to full time employment.
  • Committed to work from office location in Delta, BC.
  • Must be eligible to meet and maintain requirements for security clearance as applicable
  • Ready, willing, and able to travel to job sites outside of the Lower Mainland on assigned rotation.
